Prenatal Pilates FAQ

You can safely exercise with us, in any of our class styles until you reach 15 weeks. Once you do reach 15 weeks, we ask that you book a Private Prenatal Session with one of our expert trainers so they can guide you through the current global prenatal guidelines.

  • Pilates is the ultimate form of exercise for women planning, pre and post-natal pregnancy and beyond. Given medical approval, it is one of the very few exercise methods that can be continued right up until you give birth. Just as there are no two bodies the same, pregnancy is no different – one thing that remains certain is that your body will experience major and wonderful changes.

Our classes are great way to stay active during your pregnancy, even if you've never done pilates before.

The benefits extend to both parent and baby, including:

    • lower risk of gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia

    • improved labour and postpartum recovery

    • mental wellbeing through the release of endorphins

    • reduced back and pelvic pain

    • improved sleep

    • increased energy

Moving while you're pregnant should feel good, so you’ll look forward to moving regularly and staying healthy throughout your journey.

  • Once you reach 15 weeks, we ask that you book a Private Prenatal session with one of our expert teachers so they can guide you through the current global prenatal guidelines. We will take you through pregnancy modifications specific to your body, giving you modifications to take when you’re back in group classes. This ensures you feel comfortable and that our teachers know when you’re in the group setting, that you’ve had the 1:1 training.

  • The Guideline for Physical Activity recommend 150 to 300 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity each week, and muscle strengthening activities - like our Feel Strong class - on at least two days per week.

Always listen to your body, and modify your workout frequency based on how you feel throughout your pregnancy.

  • Pilates can be continued right up until you give birth! If you have any concerns during your pregnancy, please refer to the Guidelines for Physical Activity During Pregnancy for warning signs to stop exercise, or reach out to us at hello@feelgoodpilates.com.au if you have any questions. We are always here to help.

  • Returning to exercise should be based on your doctor’s advice, this would usually occur around 6 weeks after birth but will vary depending on delivery (vaginal or C-section) and your recovery.

Exercising after giving birth has many positive benefits on women’s physical health, including: strength & flexibility, and also their emotional health, reducing anxiety & depression.

You can continue to practice in our pre & post natal Feel Good Baby class once your baby arrives, so your baby can join in too :)
